The back-illuminated CMOS sensor has no optical low-pass filter and incorporates gapless on-chip micro-lenses as well as an anti-reflective coating. And the 153-point AF system, inherited from the D5, assures you of the pin-sharp focus and wide coverage you need for ultra-high-resolution full-frame images.

Or you can shoot at 9 fps when using the optional MB-D18 Multi-Power Battery Pack with the EN-EL18B battery (used in the D5) inserted. You get full resolution images, even when shooting in RAW, and the D5 battery allows up to 1840 shots on one charge (in single-frame release mode, based on CIPA standards). A dedicated AF processor ensures blazing subject recognition when you shoot a high number of frames per second: even small subjects moving at high speed in low light can be tracked with remarkable precision. And the camera's dual card slot unit lets you use a UHS-II SD card and an XQD card—the fastest combination possible.

Experience practically noise-free performance at high ISOs and incredible precision even when you shoot in near darkness. The fast EXPEED 5 processing engine inherited from the D5 ensures masterful image quality across the phenomenally wide ISO range. The sensitive autofocus system performs with incredible precision down to -3 EV across all focus points, and the central point performs at -4 EV (ISO 100, 20 °C/68 °F) . The 180K-pixel RGB sensor and Advanced Scene Recognition system deliver spectacular results down to -3 EV.


Featuring a tilting 3.2-inch, 2359k-dot touch-screen LCD monitor, the Nikon D850 enables smoother operation through a wider range of touch operations - facilitating easier confirmation for composition and images. The 'focus shift' function automatically adjusts the focus position from starting point to infinity making it ideal for focus stacking. Edit on-the-go with the ability of batch processing RAW files directly within the camera.

The camera's USB 3.0 port enables high-speed transfer of large amounts of data, which is ideal for tethered shooting. For an ultra-fast wireless and Ethernet connection, you can pair the D850 with the optional WT-7A. This wireless transmitter lets you send files to an FTP server or computer at speeds of up to 866.7 Mbps. You can also execute quick uploads of high-quality JPEGs to your social media stream, or a secure online gallery, via SnapBridge. Ideal when you want to let a client on the other side of the world see how a shoot is progressing. SnapBridge also makes it simple to geotag your images.

Nikon AF-S 50mm f/1.4G Lens

The lens' Silent Wave Motor (SWM) ensures quick, quiet autofocus. Autofocus shooting is made possible with SLR models that do not have a built-in motor, such as the D3000 series and D5000 cameras. The AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G is a high-performance large-aperture, single-focal- length lens especially suitable for professional and advanced amateurs who use Nikon FX-format cameras such as the D3 and D700, and frequently shoot human subjects as well as night landscapes and astronomy. When attached to a DX-format SLR, this f/1.4 lens with 75mm equivalent picture angle is capable of shooting portraits with beautiful blur effects.
