Segway makes very good e-scooters. Their signature reliability & build quality coupled with friendly pricing means that even their entry-level electric scooters have enduring popularity, and the F40 is no different. Entering the market in 2021, the F40 series was designed as a budget-friendly way to let commuters ditch the car or train, and discover a new way of getting to work on a well-built & dependable electric scooter.
Key FeaturesThe Ninebot F40 fills a gap in the e-scooter market by being an entry-level electric scooter that is actually good. Generally speaking, entry-level e-scooters are cheaper than those designed for more experienced riders, but with that, they tend to sacrifice features such as disc brakes, app integration, water resistance, or general ride comfort. For those riders who are taking their first scoots towards becoming e-scooter fanatics, the Segway-Ninebot F40 represents a reliable ride at a price that makes it a very realistic option.
Power & MotorThe F40 comes with a 350W motor in the front wheel. While not the most powerful motor featured on a Segway, it is all most riders will need to get around the city, with the motor putting out enough power to carry up to 100Kg up an incline of 10 degrees.
BrakingThe whole F-Series features regenerative braking, which uses the engine to slow the scooter whilst at the same time diverting energy lost through braking back into the battery. On top of this, you’ll also be getting a rear mechanical disc brake.
Riding ModesThe F40 comes with three riding modes: Eco, Standard, & Sport. These change the overall top speed & acceleration, which is incredibly handy if your commute involves switching between roads and predominantly pedestrian areas.
LightweightWith the amount of technology being crammed into electric scooters, they are gradually getting bulkier & heavier. This makes them less ideal for commuting, particularly if you need to fold them up and carry them. The F40 has a low 15.8kg weight, however, meaning that it can easily be stored or carried onto public transport.
